Caudon® Badger Nesting Chamber

Description

Used for the construction of an artificial badger sett.

The Caudon Badger Nesting Chamber is CNC cut from 18mm Grade 3 Ply Board and comes flat packed for easy transport and reduced delivery costs. With box join corners and a rebated lid, it is easy to construct on site. Pre-drilled holes at the corners allow for final screwing together once in position (Screws included).

Each side face of the chamber has a removeable port to allow for fitting of Caudon Badger Sett Tunnel sections, or to allow for an opening to surrounding back-filled soils through which badgers can further extend the sett themselves by digging. Port blanking plates are very easily removed with a few quick saw cuts or punched out. A pad saw is ideal for this. Port blanking plates can also be left in-place depending on desired sett configuration and to maintain integrity of the chamber.

Tunnel entrance ports are deliberately oversized to allow tunnel sections to be angled slightly (vertically or horizontally) where they enter the sett chamber.

There is no floor to the nesting chamber with badgers preferring a bare earth floor in which they can profile themselves. Badgers can also be cautious of artificial floor surface materials.

Can be supplied fitted with a HDPE lid cover (optional extra) to help impede water ingress and extend the life-span of the chamber, giving plenty of time for the sett colony to become established.
